Often overlooked is the role played by the secret agents who worked behind enemy lines in the greatest danger to help the Allied invasion.  A hugely varied group of SOE agents, double-cross spies, French Resistance and Maquis worked to disrupt transport lines, break communications, give disinformation and generally destroy the German efforts to combat the invasion.
